FREI ART FESTIVAL

Vom 15. bis 21. September 2025 verwandelt das Frei Art Festival Freiburg in einen lebendigen Treffpunkt der internationalen Tanzkunst – und lädt Menschen jeden Alters ein, nicht nur zuzuschauen, sondern selbst Teil des Geschehens zu werden.
Workshops mit renommierten Choreografinnen wie Ultima Vez, Nederlands Dans Theater, RubberLegz u. a. treffen auf Performances internationaler und lokaler Künstlerinnen. Die Woche bietet ein vielseitiges Programm für Profis, Laien und Familien – mit besonderen Formaten für junges Publikum (WUW, BRIDGES) sowie einem offenen Open-Air-Fest am Alfred-Döblin-Platz mit Tanz, Zirkus und Mitmachaktionen.
Der Out.liers Dance Contest am 20. September bringt Urban Styles und zeitgenössischen Tanz in einen spannenden Wettbewerb, begleitet von Live-Musik, Jam-Sessions und Workshops. Beim Choreographer Summit (17. September) präsentieren internationale Nachwuchstalente ihre Kurzstücke – ausgewählt aus über 150 Einreichungen.
Guest appearances & Events
Regular performance evenings, shows and guest performances with young artists and well-known dance companies - Studio Pro Arte offers special evenings that delight audiences from all over the region.
In addition to dance performances, cross-disciplinary events take place in which workshops, music, dance and audience participation make Studio Pro Arte an open and diverse place for artistic encounters.

Performance program
International and national dance artists show inspiring performances during the FREI ART FESTIVAL. A top-class program of contemporary and urban dance, performances and pieces for young and old. In addition to the performances in the Studio Pro Arte, there are concerts and dance performances on the open-air area.
Workshops, intensives, seminars
The FREI ART FESTIVAL offers diverse and high-quality workshops, performance programs and seminars. For a week, the international dance scene shares its knowledge with the local, national and international dance world.
The workshops take place at all levels and are also aimed at semi-professional dancers and amateurs.
Out:liers Dance Contest
Der Out:liers Dance Contest ist das jährliche Highlight des FREI ART FESTIVAL im Studio pro Arte. In einem mitreißenden Format treten Tänzerinnen und Tänzer in allen Stilen und Levels gegeneinander an.
Dabei steht nicht der Wettbewerb, sondern das kreative Momentum im Mittelpunkt des Dance-Contests. Aus spontanen Einfällen und im Zusammenspiel entstehen unglaublich künstlerische und mitreißende Kreationen.
Die hochkarätige Jury entscheidet, wer in die nächste Runde kommt und kürt im Finale den Gewinner.

FREI ART CONNECT
Frei Art Connect is the open exchange platform during the Frei Art Festival that enables in-depth discussions about the quality, sustainability and direction of dance and cultural work. It is aimed in particular at those responsible for production houses, choreographers, curators and organizers of festivals in the field of contemporary dance - from Germany and all over Europe.
In recent years, new networks and international formats have emerged through the FREI ART CONNECT format.
