Selected Associated Artists 2026/27

The Studio Pro Arte received more then 20 applications and selected a solo piece and an ensemble  fo the the first round of the associated artist program. Tee artists will receive from April 2026 until March 2027, depending on the needs of the creation:

• Free rehearsal space for research and development

• Individual artistic and strategic coaching

• Integration into the studio’s festival, production, and project activities

• Access to local and international networks

• A dedicated presentation evening at Studio Pro Arte

• Continuous exchange with the team and the community

Solo project 'Hypocrisis' Olivia's work is rooted in a surreal, absurdist world with a distorted and articulated movement style. Through the motion of the body, she finds playfulness in shaping sensations into an environment and shaping strength into vulnerability. Roughness, vulnerability, poetry, sass, and self-derision, these are the colours represented in the

palette of her movements.

Collective Ø - Narumi Saso and Jennie Boultbee (Essen/Wuppertal) 'Unmaking Two, Embodied patterns of uniform rupture' The ensemble brings together artists connected through Folkwang University and the broader NRW dance network, combining long-term trust-based relationships with interdisciplinary perspectives. While many of the collaborations within the team are ongoing, Unmaking Two

represents the first co-authored work by Narumi Saso and Jennie Boultbee. The project therefore not only reflects on relationality and synchronisation as artistic themes, but also embodies them structurally through a newly formalised artistic partnership.

Die ausgewählten Künstler*innen erhalten von April 2026 bis März 2027 – je nach den Bedürfnissen ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit – folgende Unterstützung:

• Kostenfreie Probenräume für Recherche und Entwicklung

• Individuelles künstlerisches und strategisches Coaching

• Einbindung in die Festivals, Produktionen und Projekte des Studios

• Zugang zu lokalen und internationalen Netzwerken

• Einen eigenen Präsentationsabend im Studio Pro Arte

Olivia Grassot (Brüssel, Belgien)

Soloprojekt: „Hypocrisis“

Olivias Arbeit ist in einer surrealen und absurden Welt verwurzelt und zeichnet sich durch einen verzerrten, artikulierten Bewegungsstil aus. Durch die Bewegung des Körpers entwickelt sie spielerische Möglichkeiten, Empfindungen in Räume zu verwandeln und Stärke in Verletzlichkeit zu transformieren. Rauheit, Verletzlichkeit, Poesie, Frechheit und Selbstironie bilden die Farbpalette ihrer Bewegungssprache.

„Unmaking Two – Embodied Patterns of Uniform Rupture“

Das Ensemble vereint Künstler*innen, die durch die Folkwang Universität sowie das Tanznetzwerk Nordrhein-Westfalens miteinander verbunden sind. Langjährige, vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit trifft dabei auf interdisziplinäre Perspektiven.

Während viele Kooperationen innerhalb des Teams bereits über längere Zeit bestehen, ist Unmaking Two die erste gemeinsame Autorinnenschaft von Narumi Saso und Jennie Boultbee. Das Projekt reflektiert nicht nur Beziehungsdynamiken und Synchronisation als künstlerische Themen, sondern verkörpert diese auch strukturell durch die neu formalisierte künstlerische Partnerschaft der beiden Choreografinnen.
